CONGRATULATIONS
to David and Roxanne (nee Croot) van Leen
During
the past couple of months, our Director and his wife,
Adrian and Lorrie van Leen,
have been busy and occupied with more than just CCG Ministries issues and
work. There has also been the lead-up and follow-up of the wedding of
their son David (Pastor and Ministry Team Leader at the Kingsley
Church of Christ) and Roxanne (daughter of Doug and Bev Croot,
former New Tribes missionaries to Papua New Guinea, now stationed in
Cairns, Queensland).
David and Roxanne’s wedding was on
Saturday afternoon, 29th November. With Church members, many friend's
family, it was a large wedding with over 300 invited guests to the
wedding and afternoon tea reception.
Roxanne came up the aisle singing ‘Keeper
of the Stars.’ Her bouquet was made up of single white roses handed to
her as she walked up the aisle, with David completing it by giving her a
single red rose.
The four-tiered wedding cake was a bit of
a surprise for many people - the three bottom tiers were actually
specially iced boxes with the cakes, already pre-cut, ready for
distribution.
Following the afternoon tea reception
David and Roxanne departed for photo-takes. Their departure was something
of a conversation piece - the whole bridal party boarded a special fire
engine and left the church for botanical gardens and later the beach,
for sunset photos.
Most guests left after the bridal party
had gone, but immediate family stayed for a light buffet evening meal.
David and Roxanne surprised some of the relatives by sending a video
(pre-taped) to say they had ‘eloped’, and weren’t coming to the family
‘reception’. The whole wedding was relaxed and informal (with no speeches
etc at the reception), and the family/relatives readily accepted David and
Roxanne not coming to the final part of the family activities. It had
been a long day for them both.
David and Roxanne flew to Queensland the
following day and spent about a week on Green Island resting and
snorkelling on the Barrier Reef; then some time at Surfers Paradise,
visiting the theme parks; then on to Sydney to climb the harbour bridge
(at night) . They eventually flew back to WA on Thursday 11th of December.

Adrian and Lorrie have 'endured' their voluntary
isolation and have passed the quarantine period without any signs of SARS.
We continue to give thanks for their health while also mindful of the
continued affect this virus has in other parts of our world.
Friday 23rd May
2003
We praise God that Adrian has tonight
returned safely from Singapore.
He and Lorrie are now in a voluntary quarantine period of 10 days
against any possible SARS infection.
Please remember Adrian and Lorrie during this
time.
Adrian is in Singapore from Friday
the 9th to Friday the 23rd, May 2003.
He will be lecturing at the Biblical Graduate School of Theology during
these two weeks.
Can you help? We are constantly in need of A4 paper.
Clean (used on one side) is fine.
Our
thanks to those who have been able to help out in this area. |
